A new educational program, “LEARN”, presented by the University of Tokyo Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, will be holding a half-day program called “LEARN Global”’ for elementary and junior high school students who are yet to settle into life in Japan. If you have family members or acquaintances who fit the description, please let them know of this opportunity to spend a cost-free funday in Tokyo.
What is “LEARN”?
At the University of Tokyo Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, we have been conducting practical research to solve ongoing educational issues.
While the social system and the tools and devices used to survive the system are getting more and more complicated, our knowledge has lost its reality, as well as the children’s. Under the safe and controlled environment, children are losing resilience while those who do not fit the description are excluded from the group with no other place to go. Society is molding them into “social norms” for more efficiency.
What is "LEARN Global"?
“LEARN Global” is a program for children whose native language is not Japanese.
The wonders and curiosities of everyday life can be a great opportunity to learn and experience the world. “LEARN Global” offers an experiential curriculum that allows students to seek answers to such mysteries using mobile technologies, and through interaction with others.
This is the very first event for “LEARN Global”. It is intended for children from 10 to 15 years old, not yet fully accustomed to Japanese lifestyles and/or haven’t mastered Japanese language. Participation is free, lunch provided. Participants are responsible for your own transportation costs to and from the meeting location.

Sushi, ramen, and miso soup. Many people are familiar with Japanese food, but there are infinite kinds of mysterious ingredients and dishes you’ve never had or seen before. How many unfamiliar foods do you think you can find in this city?
-Date: September 16, 2024 (Monday / National holiday)
-Time: 13:00-17:00
-Requirements: children from 10 to 15 years old (10 persons)
-Location: Near Kichijoji Station, Tokyo
-Costs: Free of cost except for the transportation from and to the location
-Application deadline: September 8, 2024 17:00
